PROJECT LIFE WEEK 8

I'm back with Week 8 of Project Life. Hope that you have been keeping up well with Project Life (:

Had fewer photos this week so it seemed like a good time to play with the Design G page protectors of Project Life. I actually quite like the dynamic of having horizontal and vertical photos next to one another.

This week's spread took longer than I had imagined it would. I think I need to spread it more throughout the week instead. Due to a lack of photos, I decided to use my own printables in the spread. They can be found in my shop that you can get to from the sidebar or in my etsy shop. Used foam thickers in this week's layout and learnt that they were fragile and nearly ran into a few issues, but all's good. I also dug quite a bit into my stash to make it work!

Here's a few close ups

The right side

Liked this side a lot more for some reason (: Maybe its the food pictures and an adorable little boy (:
Lots of blues, greys and krafts. The badge "snapshots of life" can be found in my shop.

So that's it for Week 8, do leave me any questions you may have in the comments, and I'll get back to them as soon as I can.

Project Life is a line of products by Becky Higgins, and can be used for documentation of daily life or anything else you may want. Oh I also have a small shop update with my re-done arrow shapes

Happy Leap day everyone. Do stop by the shop if you like any of the items that you see.

JUST A SNEAK

Just have a sneak to share today of a class that I designed and might be personally teaching at Scraplicious soon. If you are interested, the class will be running in March to early April and you can email me for more details. And here's a secret, even though the sample in the store has little girl pictures, you can easily use th is album for your wedding shots or couple shots, or even as wedding gifts to couples you know, as this project is purposefully non-kiddishly designed.

You can also email me at piecedpapers AT gmail.com if you have any questions. Hope you like the sneaks and I hope to be able to share the whole project soon.

Have a great start of the week (:

PROJECT LIFE WEEK 6

It's Project Life Catch up time (:

Here's Week Six to share

I think I'm in love with the Jenni Bowlin doily punch. I can't help to use it to add visual interest (: Used some of my own printables in the Project Life layout too.

One thing I've had to learn to do for sure is give up perfectionism within me and let go with Project Life. Personally I'm not a fan of the top left hand corner, but I have learnt that obsessing with it brings about nothing good and instead to do it and move on. I keep chanting in my head:  you are documenting life, not perfectionism.

I included a brochure in this page to highlight the area surrounding where I stay, as it was nice and glossy. This week I saw lots of cool decor and design elements. Love the quote from pinterest.

That's all for this week of Project Life. I hope that you have been inspired. Do check out the Project Life Asia Flickr group too for more inspiration.

PROJECT LIFE WEEK 7

I was supposed to update with Week 6, but since I got all caught up with Week 7, and I will be okay if I miss weeks, I want to constantly be as updated as I can be, rather than catching up on past weeks. Even if this means I never get back to the weeks past. So I proudly present Week 7 to you.

This was a mad week with so much going on, where everyday there was something, guests to entertain, friends to catch up with etc. And as per usual it was filled with good food. I have never been a movie person, and would gladly give up the silence of sitting next to someone in a dark theatre and have a good meal where I can catch up with a friend.

I am really liking using the "filler" cards from the Clementine kit to fill in the gaps as well as add in little snippets about the week. Did you spot my cameras? Had fun trying to design and make them and I am really proud of the results. The cherish chevron card is one of my downloadables.

If you are in Singapore and have not tried the lemon garlic butter mussels from Fish & Co, go, run and try it. They are fabulous, especially the sauce.

More food again (: And they are all my favourites. Can you tell with all my PL pages that I love good food.

Let everything you do be done in love, 1 Cor 16:14. I hope that you have been inspired a bit and have a great day. Sorry for the stop and dash, will be back with more tomorrow!

CLOSE UPS and POLAROIDS

Hi everyone, just some close ups of Project Life Week 6 to share, which I am pleased to announce has been completed and laid in my album.

Will be back with the full pictures tomorrow due to the plague of my life, bad lighting where I stay. But till then, my close-ups.

And yes I have taken to decorating even the "filler" cards from the Clementine kit, with washi tape and stitching. I found that it works when you do want to journal something but don't have enough to fill up the whole card (and are OCD like me about not having your writing be able to expand beyond a certain size.

Well, like everyone else who has been doing Project Life, I too have been inspired by the many many oodles of inspiration put out there. Here are just some that I have been enjoying:

1. Lisa Truesdall aka gluestickgirl: It was through her PL sharing that I "realised" that it could be possible to personalise your own cards and stuff. And that she managed to most of it too. She also shares a series on twopeasinabucket.com for tips on Project Life

2. Kelly Purkey: Seeing how she has chosen to document her life with PL as a singl living in the city has been inspiring in more ways than one, especially how she is not afraid to blow up her photos to occupy multiple slots. Love the different take on PL

3. Michelle Wooderson: A Mish Mash of things is her blog title as well as how she approaches PL as well. Perfect for inspiring me to dig deeper into my stash.

4. Leena Loh: Another Singaporean doing PL (: It's nice to see familiar sights of where I stay and she has a white and bright colour scheme to her Project Life and also incoporates many little bits.

5. May Scholz aka SiameseStudio: A digital Project Lifer from Thailand. Her pages are fantastic with the digital elements that she uses, both from Jessica Sprague and outside of Project Life. Definitely an inspiration for those thinking of doing it digitally or wanting to incorporate digital elements.

Do pay a visit and hope that you would gain some inspiration from them. There are also a number of PLers in Asia on my list that I would be sharing soon too, for those of use in Asia who are attempting Project Life.

I have also been working on more digital designs over the weekend and am proud to share a new camera set of badges, as with many out there, I am a camera lover too.

It includes six different fun cameras. In clockwise direction, starting from the top right hand corner: Actionsampler, Polaroid camera, Diana, Holga, Blackbird fly and Rangefinder.

As with all the badges I have, they do not come with adhesive, but you can easily attach them with foam dots/squares or glossy accents/beacons. They are available at my etsy shop, which you can also get to from the links on the right side bar.

In addition to that, I have also polaroids printable journaling cards for sale.

The set includes two 4x6 cards, one vertical and one horizontal (this one can be used with PL page protectors B and D), as well as two 3x4 cards (which measure 2.88x3.88 to ensure easy slotability into the pockets). I think that the polariod frame is definitely useable and it's all for just $2.50. Also available in my etsy and I might put it up in the shop here too.

Have a good start of the week! I'll be catching up and trying to put myself back on schedule with Week 7 of Project Life.

OF VINYL AND WASHI TAPE

No Project Life spread yet for me :(  Have been too busy this week and hoping to catch up with it for the weekend.

Just wanted to share a mini project that I did with my silhouette SD.

I designed the placement of the words and then cut them out on Vinyl. This is good stuff, as it is thin, which doesn't add bulk to the notebook. The other good thing is that if this were cut out on paper or cardstock, it would be difficult to ensure that the placement of the words remain the same, as transfer paper is used.

To understand more about what I'm talking about you can click here where there is a much better explanation (:

Here's a close up look to what it looks like

There's a "frosted" plastic cover on top which explains why it looks a bit blur. (:

These were made for friends, but I will be putting some up in my etsy store if anyone is interested.
So as everyone knows, CHA Winter 2012 was the CHA of Washi tape or paper tape. Having a sizeable collection, storage is an issue. And the phrase out of sight out of mind is very applicable. So I sought a solution.

While in my search, etsy had some gorgeous ones, but it was out of my price range, especially factoring in shipping from the US. Enter a great place to find things that you never thought that you would need here in Singapore - Daiso. And the absolute best part is that it is just $2.

This is originally a dish/plate holder - imagine dishes slotted in between every two 'poles'. Once I saw it, thinking that it was indeed similar to what I had spotted on etsy, albeit shorter, I knew that it would work.

On average each 'pole' can take four tapes, depending on the thickness. As the rolls from Amercian Crafts and Hambly seem to be smaller in diameter, this made it fit perfectly with my bigger size MT ones. And you can classify them to dots, stripes, themed or mix them all up (:

So now it will sit on my desk as a gentle reminder to be used, and yet not rolling about the place in a container. And it is easy to move around if needed too. And you can personalise it by painting the wood or decorating it with Washi tape (:

For anyone who is curious on how you can use these pretty tapes, you can check out this post on the Scraplicious blog. It is especially convenient for those of us who are doing Project Life.

For those in Singapore and Asia, Scraplicious is still having a promotion to giveaway a $10 gift voucher on FaceBook and Twitter so do check it out. And remember to go down to your nearest Daiso to find yours.

MORE BADGES SPOTTED

I'm excited that my badges have been put to good use by people who have purchased them. Here is another PL spread by Ellie. Go to her blog, by clicking on her name and see how she has used the badges (:

I also have a confession to make. I was supposed to have twelve photos for 12 Feb to share, but the hecticness of the day made me forget to take photos. Argh...

With Valentine's day is coming up and I have a new release of journaling cards that are love themed, yet very very suitable for everyday PL stuff, as Project Life is also about documenting the different loves in life that you have right?

I also will have printable freebies up tomorrow so do remember to check it out. Sorry for the short update today, but tomorrow will be more exciting, fingers crossed (:

Hope that you will have a good start of the rest of the week!

PROJECT LIFE WEEK 5

Week 5 is now lock and loaded and ready to go (:

It was an eventful week being the second week of Chinese New Year, though I didn't take that many photos

For this week's spread, I decided to go with a "whiter" design, especially with the new set of chevron cards that I designed. I'm pleased with the more graphic look, but I also like the fact that from one week to the next, it can look so different (:

It's an orangey, yellow, grey themed. I also put the Jenni Bowlin doily punch to work. (It's the grey punch outs)

Particularly love the doilies stitched at the bottom of the date tag. I also ran the "Amy Tan" letters I put for the dates for some stitching.

Also received my Studio Calico Kit from ScrappinStudio, and used the alpha stamps that were in the Stepping Stone Add-on. The "click" button was made by me, custom designed.

Lots of stitching too. Not just physically, but even with the cards as you can see the yellow faux stitching on the journaling cards.

And there you have it, Week 5 of my Project Life Album for 2012.

The journaling cards with chevrons that I designed are still available free for my blog followers. Go to the previous post or click here for more information.

For those in Asia and doing Project Life, do take some time to check out this flickr group for PLers in Asia to share their pages and encourage one another. http://www.flickr.com/groups/scraplicious

NO PL BUT A GIVEAWAY INSTEAD

I was supposed to have Project Life Week 5 ready to share, but that will have to wait till tmr as I am only halfway through it.

In Week 5, I have used some new journaling cards that I designed, inspired by the chevron trend that is everywhere, not just in scrapbooking but in fashion too. My favourite one is the grey chevrons with yellow stitching, which is not obvious in the photo, in real life in fabulous, I promise

A JANUARY OVERVIEW

Just a quick summary of Project Life so far for January, as well as things that I have learnt and taken stock of this far. Glad that I'm still on track! If you would like more details on any of the spreads, click on it and it will lead you to the relevant blogpost.

Week 1

Week 2

Week 3

Week 4

Things I have discovered about my Project Life process:

1.  I have more going on each week than I realised. I never thought that I would be able to fill two pages for every week, but so far that has been the case (:
2. Style A page protectors is still my preference, but I want to challenge myself creatively to try other types of styles too!
3. I am label-obsessed and love to use it in my PL pages. Label-hoarding here I come.
4. Sewing completes the pages, as it does everything else.
5. Washi tape is the perfect accent to complete a journaling card that feels bare.
6. I need to pull out my typewriter a lot more because I do like how it looks. Need to get over the laziness
7. I want to include a quote or saying in the week that has impressed upon me.

Hope that you have discovered things about your own process that will keep your documentation process going on strong for 2012.

I also have a printable freebie up to "commemorate" being on track for January.

If you haven't yet seen my other freebies, here they are:
